STARA Technologies, Inc. pushes guided parachute technology further by being the first to incorporate an ultra tightly coupled (UTC) GPS/INS parachute guidance computer. In 2003 STARA Technologies was the first company ever to use GPS/INS technology with guided parachutes. Today, STARA has pushed the envelope even further and is now the first to incorporate an "Ultra Tightly Coupled (UTC)" GPS/INS computer with a guided parachute. "UTC GPS/INS keeps our technology far ahead of the others" says STARA's President Colin McCavitt, "and the use of cheaper rate gyros and accelerometers keeps the unit cost attractive to our customers. Combining the two is an extremely proprietary technique that only STARA is able to do." And their hard work has paid off. STARA's technological leaps in guided parachute GPS/INS allowed them to take second place at the US Army's Precision Airdrop Demonstration (PATCAD). Their miniature guided parafoil system outperformed all others and delivered a 5 pound payload 19 meters from the target. For more information about STARA or ultra
tightly coupled GPS/INS contact STARA at (480) 962 4591. |
